well you used to be among them now you turn the other cheek
say when'd you get so modest, you were never that way with me
but you know i don't mind a bit it's all coming to a halt
i'm moving on and it's nobody's fault

now you travel place to place always looking for a soul to steal
and you never claimed to own the game but you still spun the wheel
and i used to be caught up in the tragic tales you tell
but it's over now and i'm trying to get well

but every reassurance just magnifies the doubt
how do you rid yourself of sickness that you've never lived without?
